SMIA.ma
The official website of the Moroccan Society for Artificial Intelligence — built, shipped, and maintained to give the community a serious web presence.
The Moroccan Society for Artificial Intelligence (SMIA) needed more than a placeholder — the national AI community deserved a web presence as serious as its mission. I built it end-to-end.
Problem
A national scientific society had activity everywhere and a web presence nowhere. Events, researchers, and announcements lived in scattered posts. The society needed a single authoritative place: fast, bilingual-friendly, and credible enough for members, partners, and the press.
Approach
Built as a focused web product:
- Clear information architecture: who we are, what we do, events, and how to join — four questions, four sections, no clutter.
- Performance and SEO from day one: pre-rendered pages, structured data, and clean metadata so the society is findable when it matters.
- Maintainable content: a structure the society can update without depending on an agency for every announcement.
Key decisions
- Credibility by design. A national society's site is judged on polish, accuracy, and speed. Every page is optimized for that judgment.
- Content that lasts. The site is built to be edited by non-engineers, so it stays current long after launch.
- Foundable by default. Semantic markup and clean URLs mean the society ranks for its own name and its core topics.
Status
Live and maintained — one of those projects where the real deliverable is that the community finally has a home on the web.
